If you think culottes are made only for models, then you are wrong. There are lots of ways how to wear culottes trend this year. The voluminous, wide, short pants might look scary to pull-off, but believe me, there will always be a good pair out there waiting for you. No matter, if you are tall, petite, skinny, plus-sized, curvy or straight, there are great ways how to make these bottoms look awesome on you. Personally, I love their massive and voluminous look that looks creative and modish. Keep on reading to see all my favorite styles and best ways how to wear them in real life this season.
First of all, you should treat your culottes as a skirt. I know many women who imagine culottes to be midi skirts. For instance, if you have a problem in deciding what top to wear with your culottes, then you should think of tops that you would wear with an A-line skirt. I know how funny it sounds, but in real life culottes can be easily taken for a skirt. Anyway, speaking of tops, then I recommend to try on basic tank tops, crop tops, feminine blouses, off-shoulder tops, etc. All these pretty garments will for sure complement your new look. Of course, you should polish and complete your basic outfit with pretty accessories, like structured bags, chic sunglasses, classy pumps, heeled sandals and eye-catching jewelry. If you are still wondering what’s the best place for your culottes to fall in your legs, then it’s the mid-calf, but if you are a petite gal, then they should fall right below the knee. You can always have fun with volume. Keep in mind your silhouette’s proportions. The culottes are usually high-waisted, that’s why they will ideally match crop tops. I recommend to wear long tops tucked in your culottes, to avoid looking baggy. For instance, you can create a stunning office look by wearing white blouse tucked in your lovely black culottes. The result looks conservative, yet office-appropriate. In other words saying, don’t be afraid to play with proportions. Next way to make culottes work for you is to color-coordinate your look. The colors should work in harmony. If you are beginner to these bottoms, then you better start from monochrome looks in neutral or similar color shades. Of course, you should start from classic colors, like black, white, navy, brown, etc. Once you know you can try something new, I suggest to try on pastels. For instance, you can try on fully blush colored suit featuring tailored blazer, blouse tucked in matching color culottes completed with black heeled sandals. Update your lovely one color look by adding beautiful jewelry, like gold cuffs, chic sunnies, knitted shawl or pearl earrings. How about creating layered looks? Complete your outfit by throwing on your lovely outerwear. It can be a structured blazer, fur jacket, trench coat, heavy coat or knitted cardigan. Of course, you should keep your heavy outerwear garment opened if you want to underline your waistline. The last thing I wanted to mention is the footwear. Try on your favorite culottes with chic and statement shoes, like classy pumps, sandals, boots, wedges, etc.
