If you are in love with vintage fashion but do not want to look outdated then this post is dedicated specially for you my dear fashion reader. Today’s topic is how to wear vintage dresses and look modern this year. If you don’t want to look like you can out from your grandma’s closet, then you should make your lovely dress look contemporary and put a spin on your look. Most of you might think of vintage dresses of something old and maxi length. In real life, they are quite short, mid-length. You can notice them by their delicate designs of laces, pleats, ribbons, stripes and vintage prints. Anyway, you better read on to see my favorite tips and tricks how to wear them modernly.
Most of vintage style frocks are usually very conservative, as they are close and zero skin. The first thing you can do is to repair and tailor them into something modern, by cutting sleeves, making the neckline a bit deeper, etc. If the repair won’t work, or it’s simply not needed, then you can modernize your look by adding modern accessories, like wide-brim hats, baseball caps, stylish sunglasses, chunky necklaces and bracelets, fur scarves, jewelry, sexy bags, and shoes. The printed frocks can be worn with neutral accessories and jewelry, like white, black or brown. Personally, I highly recommend to add silver and gold jewelry that look classic, but can freshen up your frock. Another great way to underline your uniqueness and make your dress look modern is to add a stunning belt. This addition is great for shapeless and voluminous vintage gowns. You can either use slim or wide belt. I recommend to go for metallic belt that will balance your vintage look. If you are wearing solid neutral colored dresses, then you can update them with modern shoes, like metallic pumps, nude heels, stiletto shoes, glittery sandals, etc. This addition will make you look and feel fresh and modern. If you are in love with quirky, daring and adventurous looks, then how about wearing brightly colored shoes that will be a pop of color of your outfit. If the weather gets cold, then you can modernize your retro dress with a stylish leather or denim jacket, or simply add a modern blazer.
